Power of the Holy Spirit

The Energising Dunamis Power of the Holy Spirit

Most of us are familiar with the word “dunamis”. Dunamis is a greek word and it means power (strength, capacity, ability, potency, force, might, capability). There is also a parallel between the word dunamis and the English word, dynamic. Importantly, this word is not used in the Bible (New Testament) in the meaning of human strength rather it is used to describe miracles and signs, the supernatural healing power and love of God.

God has (is) tremendous energy (power) flowing all the time. He flows through the lives of His Spirit filled children, energising us so that we can have supernatural abilities. This dunamis power is available for all who belong to Him.

“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this.”

He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.” (Ephesians 3:20 TPT)

Our God, the God of Ephesians 3:20 is able to do above all we ask or think, but many people stop there. They say “Oh God is able to do above all that we ask or think”, and then they put a full stop. The Bible does not put a full stop; God is not limited and if we stop there we are limiting the infinite power of the Almighty.

The degree that God can effectively work in and through us is the force that flows from our spirit. This energising power can flow at different intensities at different times.

The secret is that God does nothing without His Word. The level of Word that you have written inside of your spirit will determine the flow from you. The Holy Spirit is our intercessor and prays to the Father on our behalf, releasing the supernatural power causing it flow. The more you feed your spirit the Word of the God, the more the flow of dunamis power in you and through you will become.

On the flip side, the devil has his energy force as well and he activates it together with the law of sin and death. Apostle Paul said in Romans 7:15, “I’m a mystery to myself, for I want to do what is right, but end up doing what my moral instincts condemn”.

This is what we need to understand about what Apostle Paul is saying: We need the energy force of God, to overcome the energy force of the devil.

“We know that God’s judgment falls upon those who practice these things. God is always right, because he has all the facts.” (Ephesians 2:2)

We too once walked according to the ways of this world, according to the prince of the air, who works in the sons of disobedience.
